Fire Service Instructor I

Class starts 1 April, 2017
This will be a 9 week, instructor led, hybrid class offering. Students will complete the Fire and Emergency Services Instructor online course and attend a two-day classroom and evaluation. Successful completion of this course awards a Pro Board accreditted certification for Fire Service Instructor 1.
This course prepares fire service personnel to deliver instruction from a prepared lesson plan. Additional areas of responsibility will include assembling course materials, using instructional aides and evaluation tools, reviewing and adapting lesson plans to meet the needs of individual students or groups, organizing the teaching environment and providing a safe learning environment. The class will also cover the methods used to prepare and maintain training records in accordance with requirements and local standards.
This course meets the competency standards established by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1041 Standard for Fire Service Instructor Professional Qualifications, Instructor 1.
Pre-Requisites: Currently certified to FFII or above and two years of fire service experience.
Dates of Class: Starts Apr 1, 2017 ending with a 2-day classroom and evaluation weekend on June 24-25, 2017. Location to be determined by class enrollment.

Class Limit: 20 students; no more than two students from the same department unless room allows.
